Happy Valentine's day. He's the Jam to my toast!

My special man. Valentines day is not such a big deal, in fact we are both still in out pj's and mister is going to go take some trash to the dump today. I think I'm going to touch up my roots and work on some etsy stuff. With all of the non-holiday stuff going on I thought I would take a moment out of my day to mention how much I love my husband. We have been through a lot in the past year, but with each day we grow more and more and my love grows stronger with passing moment. I know mushy, but it's true. Four years has flown by and I can't believe that I get to spend the rest of my life with this guy. He always doubts me, but he really is the coolest guy I know. Our love has had ups and downs and life isn't always the easiest, but I love this roller coaster and I am so glad to be on this ride with you.  I love you Mr. Jim! Happy Valentines day, now here is a random montage of my handsome husband!!!! Be jealous! :)

Room remodel tour!!!!

$200 Dinning room re-vamp!!!!

Home ownership has been filled with surprises and lots of odd findings. With a small budget and a weekend worth of time, Jim and I set a challenge to transform out 70's dining room into something modern and fun!!!!

We originally wanted to take down the wood paneling, but when we started to try to we found out that the paneling was put up with liquid nails so we would have had to re-texture the walls. So opted to just paint the paneling.  

 We also decided to keep our old ceiling fan for cost reasons, but we wanted to give it a little face lift. Jim spay painted it black. It actually looked really good and it was a more modern look rather then the gold before. I bought new glass shades for the bulbs and we turn the blades of the fan to the plain wood side. The fan looks brand new and both Jim and I were really pleased with how it turned out.

We started out by sanding all the paneling and then washed down the walls really well. This took most of the first day and we were super sore the next day, but it was a needed step. 

 

We chose a blue tinted whited and a kind of a khaki color for the trim. It makes the room look so much bigger and brighter then the panelling did!

I also decided to re-cover the dining room chairs. They too were awful. 70's velvet floral wasn't working anymore. I opted for this bright blue with lime and pink in it. I was really surprised when Jim liked it too, but I'm so glad he did because I love this fabric!

Febuary is a month of self love! OOTD

I'm not one that makes a big deal out of Valentine's day. It always seem like a holiday to buy stuff. Celebrating love should not be about one day or candy or cards. Jim knows how much I love him and we both don't need a holiday to show it! I will say that the girly side of me wants to be spoiled and wants a little something on a special day, but then the rest of me steps up and tells girly me that what I really need is a motorcycle helmet and not a fancy ring or candy in a velvet box!  I will say however, that I was inspired by v-day when I painted my nails. This time I decided to paint my toe nails. Over at A is for ampersand, Amy is doing a month long feature on body acceptance and self love! I love this and will be talking more about it in the next couple posts, but with that being said I chose to do my feet because I'm super self conscious of them. I have a pretty gnarly rash-thing on one of my feet (I've seen the doctor about it and it's just something that will get better or worse on it's own) and I have chubby sausage feet with little nails. With all of those things, I usually avoid my feet, but focusing on self acceptance I chose to share my insecurity with y'all! 

All in all I'm pretty proud of my little robots. Each robot is holding half of a heart and when I stick them next to each other they connect. I thought that was cute. I also grabbed a couple pictures yesterday on our way out the door. I had an eye exam and I finally ordered new glasses!

Today is a busy day. We bought paint to re-do the dining room. we are going to refurbish the ceiling fan and paint over the awful fake wood paneling on the walls. So with that being said, I'm off to home improvement land and I'll be back soon. Hope you all have an awesome day!

Hair and Makeup in ten minutes-ish!

This week I set myself a challenge to do my makeup and hair in ten minutes. It was hard! I think me being frantic made it take longer. Also this was my first time editing a video, so it's a little choppy, but all in all, I'm pretty proud. Enjoy!

Saturday = Saturdance!!!!!

Saturday is going to be Saturdance!!!! I will share an awesome tid bit that will make you want to shake and shimmy ever Saturday. I'm super stoked about this and I figured I would start things off right!!!! 

Donut you need a pin cushion!

I've been re-organizing my crafting stuff and realized that I don't have a pin cushion and am in much need of one. I found this cute idea online and decided to share with you...
 

Ingredients:

• 2 pieces of felt (one color for donut, one color for icing)
• 1 pair scissors
• thread in the same colors as your chosen felt
• lots of stuffing
• 1 sewing needle
• 1 beading needle
• seed beads

 I chose to use a yellow-ish/ beige-y color felt (that photographs super orange) for my donut part. I used a dvd as a guide for the size I wanted. I traced the dvd and cut out about a half inch outside the pattern for seam allowance. For the middle of the donut hole I traced my spool of thread and left a seam allowance for that as well when I cut out the hole.

Put good side to good side and sew around the dotted line. Once you have sewed the circumference  of your donut, flip it right side out.

Stuff your donut extra full and then sew the middle shut. I just whip stitched the middle because I decided that I was going to "ice" the middle of the donut. (I sewed the middle and didn't like the way it looked so I decided to cover the middle with the icing color) 

Use the same dvd pattern for your icing. I decided to use a purple color felt for the icing. Cut out in a squiggly/haphazard way.  Before you attach the "icing" sew your seed beads on.  Then whip stitch the icing onto your donut!  Then ENJOY!!!!
